House of the Week: Enjoy a drink at the bar and then watch the game at this custom-built

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – It was love at first sight for Sandy Lind when she first stepped into the custom-built ranch at 7557 East Dead Creek Road in Baldwinsville in 2021.

“I walked into the front door and my jaw dropped,” she remembered.

Her husband, Larry, was in Colorado at the time but he was brought up to speed on her feelings with a phone call.

“I want that house,” she told him.

The phone call was the right one to make. They have had “a lot of fun” living there over the last couple of years.

Built for entertaining, they have loved sharing the home with family and friends, during summer get-togethers, movie nights, and NFL Sundays.

Finished in 2012, the “solid brick” home, with 5,000 square feet of living space, four bedrooms, and three-and-a-half bathrooms, had been well-cared for.

Its original owner was an electrician who had left behind a one-of-a-kind home just begging to be enjoyed.

About the only thing Larry and Sandy did after purchasing it was to change the “milk chocolate walls” and take out some brown carpeting to “brighten” up the home’s main living areas.

“It is very open and very comfortable,” Larry said. “A lot of thought went into the design.”

The living room has a gas fireplace and vaulted ceilings. The formal dining room was used for holidays and special occasions.

For Sandy, the kitchen is the showstopper.

“I love to bake and cook there,” she said. “I love the pantry.”

You can often find her with “two mixers going” simultaneously, preparing pies and cobblers in the double ovens.

The four apple trees, two pear trees, and blackberry bushes means she has plenty of homegrown produce to work with from out in her yard.

The kitchen has granite counters, a built-in microwave, and a warming drawer.

The four bedrooms are split between the two wings of the home.

The owners’ suite is spacious and features two walk-in closets. Its bathroom has a Jacuzzi-style bathtub, heated floors, and a steam shower.

“It creates a mini-steam room,” Larry said, “great after a workout or on a cold day.”

They use a nearby bedroom as their home office and craft room.

The two other bedrooms, at the other wing, share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.

The home’s lower level is where all the fun happens.

Like the first floor, it is open and spacious.

“Little ones could run around and play touch football down there,” Sandy said. “And they did.”

The space features a full bathroom, a game area, with room enough for shuffleboard, a card table, and billiards table, a full bar, with sink, mini-bridge, and beer on tap, and a theater room.

Sandy watches her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Larry roots for his Miami Dolphins on the big screen and set up smaller screens and iPads to catch the rest of the action, sometimes eight games at once.

“It is a lot of fun sitting around the bar, playing cards, while watching all the games,” Larry said.

A full kitchen makes preparing snacks and meals easy, which can be easily carried out onto a covered patio and pool area.

The saltwater pool has an attached hot tub and awesome spiral slide for children.

“It is the perfect setup for summer,” Larry adds.

A 48-foot-by-48-foot barn, with three bays, lights, and electricity, would be great for automobile enthusiasts and RV or boat owners.

The couple are returning to Colorado after Larry received a business…
